Synagogues in Hungary

Budapest

Great Synagogue (Dohany street) - it is the second largest Jewish temple in the world. Designed by German architect Ludwig Forster (Förster). It was dedicated on September 6, 1859

Rumbach Sebestyen Street Synagogue - designed by Otto Wagner and built in 1872

Kazinczy Street Orthodox Synagogue - built in 1913

Synagogue at Frankel Leo Road - built in 1887-1888

Medieval synagogue in Buda Castle district, Tancsics Mihaly Street, built in 15th century

Obuda Synagogue at Lajos Street - built between 1767-1769 and rebuilt later according to Andras Landherr's design. The Jewish Community sold the building in the 1960's and now there is a studio of Hungarian Television. The building's exterior has been preserved in its original form, but its interior has been transformed. (located near Hotel Aquincum and HEV train station at Timar Street)

Synagogue at Pava Street (IX district) - built in 1924
